National Nursing Week (May 6–12) is an opportunity to spotlight the many contributions of nurses at North York General Hospital (NYGH) and the profession's vital role in the health care landscape. Each and every day, NYGH nurses care for our patients and families with a mix of expertise, dedication and compassion, routinely going above and beyond to deliver exceptional care. They are integral to our interprofessional teams.

The theme for Nursing Week this year is “A Voice to Lead — Health Care for All.” This truly resonates for our nurses at NYGH as leadership exists at all levels of nursing throughout the organization. They lead with passion, innovation and advocacy for our patients.

Our nurses not only provide the best quality care, notably they are inspirational and visionary. Many take great pride in sharing their expertise and knowledge of best practices with colleagues from around the globe through conferences, poster presentations, lectures, articles and committee participation. They, along with our interprofessional teams, provide valuable insight to develop new models of care and advance excellence in patient care. Needless to say, it's an exciting time for the profession.

To all of our incredible NYGH nurses, thank you! We look forward to recognizing your many contributions May 6 to May 12.

Yours truly,

Joshua Tepper, President and CEO
