At North York General Hospital, we are dedicated to providing mothers, newborns, children and teens with outstanding and responsive care. The hospital's obstetrical centre is one of the largest single site centres in Ontario and each year we celebrate the birth of over 5,000 babies.
North York General Hospital is a nationally recognized leader in caring for infants, children and teenagers — caring for over 18,000 children every year.
Teaching and Training
As one of the teaching hospitals for the University of Toronto, health care professional trainees may join the other members of your health care team for various parts of your child’s treatment. A larger team means that many people will think about your condition and your options for treatment and supportive care.
During your visit to NYGH, you will probably see:
- Medical students who are studying to become doctors
- Residents who are doctors qualified to practice medicine but are training to become a specialist (in areas such as paediatrics, family medicine, radiology, emergency medicine, etc.)
