The partnership between North York General Hospital and our volunteers began in 1966 when an inaugural meeting was held and 500 volunteers were recruited from the community to support our soon to be built hospital. Learn more about the history of Volunteer Services at North York General.
Today, there is an opportunity to be part of one of three volunteer streams of our volunteer program, each playing a role in making a world of difference for our patients and visitors.
Patient and Family Advisors
Patient and Family Advisors are volunteers who share their unique thoughts and perspectives to ensure the voices of patients and families are heard, considered and included in North York General's programs and plans for the future. Councils and committees across the hospital include Patient and Family Advisors in their decision-making processes. Learn more about volunteering as a Patient and Family Advisor.
Service volunteers share their time and talent, delivering compassionate and respectful service to our patients, residents and their families across the hospital's General site at 4001 Leslie Street; Branson Ambulatory Care Centre at 555 Finch Avenue West and Seniors' Health Centre at 2 Buchan Court. Spiritual and Religious Care volunteers
Worship leaders and on-call volunteer chaplains are also important volunteer roles within the Spiritual and Religious Care team.
